René Girard’s work on mimetic desire and Violence and the Sacred is unique. Girard went to the USA to teach French literature. It is this teaching abroad that allowed him to discover an “anthropologic truth” with the Novels of Stendhal, Proust, etc. : the mimetic desire.
There is much work by René Girard and “on” René Girard written in English. See Wikipedia
I discovered Girard’s work before teaching in general hospitals and mental hospitals.
Mimetic desire was everywhere – among the managers, among the medics, among the nurses and in the lives of patients.
